Different Dimension Stronger and Walk of Shame

“The Lady shrugged nonchalantly. "You're a hider. That's what you're thinking. And you're right."

May swallowed and nodded, feeling very small.

The Lady kneaded her wrinkled hands. "What you are hiding from the most, my dear, is that you are none of those things you are so afraid of being - cowardly, weak, small. You aren't afraid to know you're afraid. And you're most afraid that you're stronger than you know.”

― Jodi Lynn Anderson, May Bird Among the Stars

Polish Information: This is Different Dimension's Stronger. Stronger is described as "a blue leaning periwinkle scattered holographic polish with hints of different colors reflected in the light." I used three coats here with butter LONDON's top and base coats. Different Dimension is one of my absolute favorite indie brands. DD was actually the first indie I bought from, and the quality was so high that I was instantly hooked on indies! It is now the indie I have the most of as well, and I still LOVE every single polish I have bought from her (which is past 40 now!). Back to Stronger- this color is truly multidimensional!! I got strong blue and purple shines, depending on which way I caught the light.

Stronger bottle shot to show the purple shine!

Oooh la la! Gorgeous!

And another shot of nails with bottle
Application was great- easy as usual with DD polishes. I used decently thick coats- it would probably make a great topper! It has a subtle holo to it, even in indoor light, and gorgeous blue and purple flashes that my camera had a tough time capturing!

Gorgeous, is it not?

Augh! I love this color!!

You can really see all the colors here- and purple flashes near the cuticles!

Blue flash!!
I LOVE Stronger!! I also tried out Walk of Shame earlier this week. Unfortunately, it looks like it's been discontinued, but my husband actually selected this one for me to wear. It is a brownish color that has a purple shine (I'd almost say duochrome, but not quite!) to it and is just a lovely deeper color as well!

Walk of Shame is even lovely in the bottle!

Walk of Shame! Very lovely color!

This just screams fall to me!
Final thoughts: DD is an amazing brand and I would highly recommend both of these colors!! Stronger is really, truly unique and has so many amazing things going on!! Walk of Shame just screams fall to me, I really love and highly recommend them both!!

As a note, I purchased both of these polishes entirely on my own and decided to review them just for fun! If you want your own Different Dimension polishes (and trust me, you do!), you can check out her shop here and her facebook page here!

Pretty & Polished Tomboyish

“Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.”

― Groucho Marx, The Essential Groucho: Writings For By And About Groucho Marx

Polish Information: This polish is Pretty & Polished Tomboyish. It is described as a "color changer that goes from a dark teal when cold to a rainy blue when warm. It's a very laid back shade with holographic sparkle throughout. A fun and simple color changing polish for those tomboys out there!" It turned into a wear test for me, as I forgot to take pictures until 5 days into wearing it! You'll see some minor wear around my tips, but wow, did it hold!!

Tomboyish bottle bottom!

Bottle shot!!

Application was super easy and smooth. I did three very light coats without a basecoat (bonus: no staining either!) and butter LONDON top coat.

It changed colors right away, and my husband and I had fun playing with it! The change was pretty dramatic too:

Color change from cool to warm for Tomboyish
The holographic pigment was very subtle- it gave it more of a light shimmer than the usual strong holo, but since I was more interested in the thermographic abilities, it was awesome!!

For just a couple more shots of the shift:

Final thoughts: This was a fun polish to play with and I really liked it! It wore SUPER well and the color changing brought me loads of enjoyment too! I'd definitely recommend it.

This polish was bought entirely by me and these opinions are entirely my own. If you want your own, check out Pretty & Polished's shop here!

Red Dog Designs- Pop Art Mickey

"Pop Art looks out into the world. It doesn't look like a painting of something, it looks like the thing itself."

- Roy Lichtenstein

Polish Information: This polish is Red Dog Designs Pop Art Mickey. It's a glitter topper with holographic silver Mickey Mouse shaped glitter (!!!!) as well as lot of fun neon shapes in pinks, yellows, blues, etc (stars, hexagonal, squares, round...). The base also has some small silver/holo type sparklies in it just to make it extra shiny!

Two coats Pop Art Mickey over 3 coats Zoya Phoebe

Application Information: It applied pretty well. I did have to dig for the Mickey glitters, but it was well worth it! The neon glitters came out without a problem and they were plentiful!! I think the Mickey glitters might just be a little heavier and so don't want to stick to the brush. First, I tried it over four colors (Sally Hansen Ivory Skull, Zoya Mitzi, Zoya Raven, and Zoya Phoebe). I think the pinks got lost over Mitzi and the Ivory Skull washed out the Mickeys. I wasn't sure if I liked the blue or black better, but I thought the blue (Phoebe) made it a little more fun and wearable for me!

Another shot of the colors with Pop Art Mickey!
And now just over Zoya Phoebe. I had to dig for Mickey glitters and I put them in the nail corners, but I think that was kind of fun (being in the corners)! Also, I kinda fell in love with the neon stars!!

Another fun bottle shot! In outdoor shade lighting...

Final Thoughts: This was a really fun polish and I really enjoyed wearing it! The neon glitters alone were super fun!! The Mickey glitters just made it even better! I wish it was easier to get the Mickey glitters out, but without too much of a fight, I did get some, so it wasn't that bad! Overall, this was a great, fun polish to wear!! I want to try it over black sometime, as that really makes the neon POP!

Please note: This polish was bought entirely by me, and all my opinions are my own. If you would like your own (and you probably do!), check out Red Dog Designs here and their shop here.

Liquid Sky Lacquer Caramel Apple

"Everybody sees me as this sullen and insecure little thing. Those are just the sides of me that I feel it's necessary to show because no one else seems to be showing them."

-Fiona Apple

Polish Information: This beauty is another thermo-holographic from Liquid Sky Lacquer called Caramel Apple. It changes from a tan color when cold to a lime-y green when warm. It really does bring to mind a caramel apple!! Once again, it came in a lovely color coordinated little bag. It's touches like these that are the reason one would buy from an indie company who loves their product!! It certainly shows and makes it that much more special to receive!!

Liquid Sky Lacquer Caramel Apple- I love how it comes in a matching bag!

Application: Like the others, this one glided on smoothly and easily- and it dried fast!! I did three thin coats here with Julep's top and base coats. I wish I had done a thick fourth, as in the outdoors with the warm color, I could definitely see some VNL (visible nail line), which I'm not too fond of. Thus, I would say this formula was a bit thin for my taste (3 coats should usually do it), but this is probably what made it glide on so smoothly from the start!

LSL Caramel Apple- lovely!

Just another fun bottle shot of LSL Caramel Apple

For pictures of the color shift, inside, outside, and inside with flash:

Warm to cold color shift indoors, no flash.

And for a couple more pictures of the holo and the subtle ombre of thermo polishes:

My hands were cold but the tips were getting warm at the office today!

And the holo comes out with some flash!

Final thoughts: Overall, I did like this, and the name was really perfect. It changed color easily, with no problems and the holo was definitely present. I wish the formula was a bit thicker, but I did like the fast dry time and smooth application. If I had to pick thickness or fast dry, I'd take the fast drying any time!

Liquid Sky Lacquer Fuchsia Illusion

"My mother was always in those films where it's the end of the world and a meteor's about to hit London; there's only six people left, and one of them's in purple underwear. That was always my mother, running from this meteor in purple underwear and spraining her ankle."

-Paula Yates

Gorgeous packaging of LSL- matching bag to polish!

Polish information/review: This is Liquid Sky Lacquer's Fuchsia Illusion. Like the other thermo-holographics I have reviewed from LSL, Fuchsia Illusion is gorgeous and applied smoothly, easily, and dried quickly. This one had a dramatic color shift between two bright colors- a hot pink and a vivid purple! It is simply stunning!

And now, for some images of the color shift- outside in the sun and indoors with artificial light.

And now, I will let the polish speak for itself in some shots with flash and of the way the color naturally stays with the warm/cold changes that happen between the nailbed and air!

Fuchsia Illusion with flash- check out the holo!

Another shot with flash for the holo effect

And a third because I love it that much!!

It was over 90 degrees out yesterday, so when I was cold, the air was hot enough to change the color on my tips to the "warm" color!!!

Final thoughts: This one is another winner and stunner from Liquid Sky Lacquer! I really enjoyed wearing it and playing with the color shift. I also really loved how bright the "warm" color was- sometimes they look washed out, but this was a gorgeous bright pink!

If you want your own, check out Liquid Sky Lacquer on facebook or buy it at her shop, here!  This one is a beauty!!

Liquid Sky Lacquer Wine & Roses

“Drink wine. This is life eternal. This is all that youth will give you. It is the season for wine, roses and drunken friends. Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.”

-Omar Khayyam

Polish Information/Review: This lovely polish is another themo-holographic (changes color with temperature, and has some gorgeous holo pigment in it). This one was also packaged gorgeously in a matching little bag, making it more like an adorable present than the usual polish package. I just adore the coordinating bags!!

Gorgeous packaging for LSL Wine & Roses
The polish shifts from a deep eggplant to a medium pink shade. I saw this shift as my warm hands kept it pink and it changed dramatically to the fingertips, which were cooler, to the deep purple. The change was much more dramatic on this one, and it did not disappoint. Application was very, very easy. This is two thin coats, which dried remarkably fast (under 5 minutes). For some fun bottle shots:

A bottle shot with the ombre nails a thermo polish creates!

Another bottle shot, just for fun!
Next, I took some photos indoors with bright light and outdoors in the shade (well, cloudiness of the day) of the warm and cool colors.

Cold and Warm colors inside with bright lights.

Cold and Warm in outdoor shadow!
Next, I'll show how the polish stays most of the time with my warm hands and exposed tips (which are cooler).

Just more shots of this drastic change!

You can see some of the holo in indoor light!

Yet another shot of the gorgeous shift!

Finally, a few photos with flash to show the gorgeous holographic pigment:

And now to capture that holo... gorgeous!

Love this holo- shown with flash.

Warm color with the holo-  in flash.

Final thoughts: This polish was another huge hit with me- the dark color looked surprisingly good with my fair skin tone, and the shift was amazing!! Application and delivery was again a dream!! I really loved it much more than I thought I would!! It's definitely a hit for me!
